The Department of Philosophy of Religion of the University of Freiburg in Breisgau, has organized an interdisciplinary seminar on the role of ethics and religion in Western culture of the XX century, focusing particularly on the intercultural setting of post-colonialism and the influences of non-European cultures. In this context, Adrián Navigante has been invited to lecture on the main influences in Georges Bataille’s theory of religion and his theory of eroticism, especially those deriving from the History of Religions and Ethnology, as well as parallels with Alain Daniélou’s approach to religion, sacrifice and eroticism in Shiva and Dionysus.
