

As part of the edition of the Summer Mela 2015 dedicated to Indian culture and art, Alain Daniélou Foundation organised a series of conferences and workshops delivered by its guest residents, artists and leading cultural personalities participating in the Alain Daniélou Foundation ’s 2015 Summer Residency programme dedicated to contemporary art, and organised in collaboration with MAXXI museum in Rome. Participants included the renowned Indian contemporary artists Atul and Anju Dodiya and Shuddhabrata Sengupta of the Raqs Media Collective. A two day workshop with Shuddhabrata Sengupta was held at MAXXI and at the Alain Daniélou Foundation (23rd-24th June 2015). The Mela also included a focus on dance and music with two performances with the participation of great names in the classical Indian music and dance scenario: Ritwik Sanyal (21st June 2015, Embassy of India in Rome) and Wasifuddin Dagar (25th June 2015, MNAO, Museo Nazionale di Arte Orientale, Rome). Anju Mishra’s classical Kathak and Bharatanatyam Dance Company brought the Festival to a close on the 27th with a dance concert in Palazzo Rospigliosi, Zagarolo.
