Atul Bhalla (1964, India), the internationally-renowned conceptual artist, will participate in the 4th edition of the Alain Daniélou Foundation’s Summer Mela Residency Programme.
During his stay with the Alain Daniélou Foundation, Bhalla will continue to develop his on-going research project “Looking for Lost Water”. The artist has dedicated many years to this project, by investigating the physical, historical, spiritual and artistic significance of water in urban areas, and the relationship between these communities and the rural environment. A truly multifaceted artist, Atul Bhalla uses diverse media such as sculpture, painting, installation, video, photography and live performance in his creative research.
On June 28 at 9.00 pm at Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Atul Bhalla will present his site specific work which will remain on exhibition in the gardens of the Accademia, until the mid-July 2016.
Atul Bhalla lives and works in New Delhi, and is also an Associate professor at the Shiv Nadar University at the department of Art Design and Performance. His recent solo shows include:

Recent group exhibitions have brought his work to Sepia International in New York, The Pompidou center, Paris, the IVAM Institute of Modern Art in Valencia, and the Devi Art Foundation in New Delhi.
He is has shown his photographic work “Yamuna Walk” within “Other and me” Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah 2014 and with “Walk On” From Richard Long to Janet Cardiff – 40 years of art-walking, Curated by Cynthia Morrison-Bell, at NGCA Sunderland, UK.
He was also a part of “Floating World”-Curated byGeeta Kapoor; 50 years of Chemould Art Gallery. Mumbai. India, April 2014.
