« Between diversity and identity: the notion of borders in question. The paths of integration of Afghan and Turkish refugees in France in the light of Alain Daniélou’s hypotheses »

Anne Prunet and Clémence Jensen presented two papers for 4th-year students at sciences PO rennes as part of an international relations seminar questioning the notion of borders.
We proposed to put Alain Daniélou’s work into perspective with current migratory contexts.
More specifically, we analyzed the integration of Afghan and Turkish refugees in France (two of the three most represented nationalities) through Daniélou’s hypotheses on identity, acculturation and cultural adaptability. This perspective enabled us to explore in greater detail the dynamics specific to each group and the potential challenges encountered in the process of acculturation and integration. Understanding these dynamics would help to develop the integration policies and programs that meet the specific needs of each group, while promoting social and cultural cohesion in the host society.
